The ADVANCE Florida Network is now accepting applications for the Women in STEM Scholars (AFN-WISS) travel program for 2018-2019.

PURPOSE: The AFN-WISS program is sponsored by NSF ADVANCE at Florida International University in collaboration with the University of Central Florida and the University of South Florida. The aims are to promote the careers of women in STEM and to build connections among the three Florida Metropolitan Universities. More information about AFN-WISE is provided in this overview.

ELIGIBILITY: Full-time tenure earning or tenured women faculty in STEM and women STEM postdoctoral associates/research professors at FIU, USF and UCF are eligible to apply for funding to travel to FIU, USF and UCF (i.e., travel, plus up to two nights lodging and expenses).

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:  You may apply for travel funding for 2019 at this link.  Please note, your host should be a tenure-line faculty member (woman or man).

DEADLINE: Applications for travel in 2019 must be submitted by Wednesday, October 31, 2018; applications received after that date will considered if funding is available.

SUCCESS OF THE PROGRAM TO DATE: More than twenty Scholars have visited one of the three universities. Satisfaction with the program has been very high and already has led to some successful funding opportunities for a few. A listing of all Scholars and WISS news is available here. We currently are developing a Directory of all women in STEM at the three institutions for the AFN webpage as well.
