Dr. Melody Whiddon was just named winner of the Blackboard Catalyst Award for an Exemplary Course. She was recognized for her outstanding achievement in course design for the Social and Personality Development Psychology (SOP 3015) course taught here at Florida International University. She joins a select group of educators and course designers from around the world whose courses have earned the Exemplary Course designation.

Dr. Whiddon will be honored at the BbWorld annual user conference will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada July 9-11, 2013. In addition, she and her course will be highlighted as the best of the Blackboard community on the www.blackboard.com/catalyst website.

Dr. Melody Whiddon-Willoughby has over 7 years of experience developing and teaching online courses at FIU. All of her courses have earned the Quality Matters Certification and two courses earned the very prestigious Blackboard World Exemplary Course Award. Dr. Whiddon is a faculty mentor for FIU Online to assist other faculty in developing quality online courses. She currently teaches graduate and undergraduate online courses for both the department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Leadership and Professional Studies department in the College of Education. Her current research interests include an examination of key components that contribute to the effectiveness of online teaching and learning.
