Drs. Kavallieratos and Miksovska were awarded a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for the establishment of a new Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site on “Sensing, Monitoring and Detection: From Molecules to Applications”. The University has committed an additional $100,000 to the success of this new program, which involves 11 faculty and aims to increase participation of women and underrepresented minorities in interdisciplinary research in our department.
