Yukching Tse Dinh, Director of the Biomolecular Sciences Institute at FIU, recently spoke at a Gordon Research Conference (GRC) Power Hour. The GRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building communities that advance the frontiers of science. These prestigious international scientific conferences have been held since 1931, and have expanded to almost 200 conferences per year. Today, they are considered the United States’ premier scientific forum.

In 2016, the GRC introduced the Power Hour at its meetings, an informal session for all attendees gives communities the opportunity to discuss challenges women face in science and supports the professional growth of women by providing an open forum for discussion and mentoring.

The theme of this Power Hour was “Women in Science.” Tse Dinh was one of six women to present a vignette on various topics, and spoke about the FIU ADVANCE grant to attract women and minorities to the STEM and social behavioral sciences.
